You know, I am not much of a TV watcher, but I do like to get hooked on one or two shows. I like to look forward to those shows throughout the week. And now with DVR, you never miss them. In the past I have like shows that include: Friends, Frasier, Cheers, Bachelor, Apprentice, Grey's Anatomy, and American Idol. I also really like the Discovery Channel and documentaries on history & mysteries, but those types of shows don't seem to have a set schedule and are a little hard to follow. Anyway, back to the prime time shows---I guess you could say I mostly like sit-coms, realistic drama, and reality TV with a competition.
So as this season began, I was really looking forward to Grey's Anatomy. I hadn't really planned on watching anything else until January when AI and Bachelor (with my favorite runner up) will air. Can I just say that I was so disappointed with Greys?
****Spoiler Alert*****
I found the story line very implausible and not very likeable. The three women with their three husbands was absolutely pathetic. I wasn't even sure who I wanted to live at the end. And then, Christina falling and being impaled by an icicle? Seriously? Then there is Izzy falling in love with Alex? He is such a jerk, I cannot imagine that. Their hook was that McDreamy got the nurse pregnant, but that was a joke? I cannot believe it. Probably that will come back and be real. Who knows. I won't even go to the two girl doctors falling in love. Gives me the heebie jeebies. I think I decided I am done with Grey's. There is no one I like on that show and the story lines are horrible.
So just when I was about to give up on this season, I DVRed Private Practice. I LOVED it! First of all, Kate Walsh is absoutely beautiful in my eyes. She also has a very cool job. I am starting to like the other characters as well. I thought the story lines last night were great.
*****Spoiler Alert*****
The two story lines involved a 14 year old boy who parents chose to not tell him he was HIV positive. His doctor (one of the character's who's name I have forgotten) was not allowed to tell him either. Well he confided to his doctor that he was planning on having sex with his girlfriend. So, the Dr was in quite a predicament. He couldn't tell the boy he has HIV and he couldn't tell the parents the boy was going to have sex due to patient/DR. confidentiality laws. In the end he ended up telling the parents about their son...but it was too late. The teenagers had sex the night before. The show ended with both families coming back to the DR. to discuss what had the teenagers had just done to themselves.
The other major story line involved the Fertility Dr, Naomi, taking a large sum of money from a couple going through IVF inhopes of finding a perfect match for thier dying 7 yr. old son. Reminded me a lot of the Jodi Picoult book, My Sister's Keeper. Well, turns out that the couple wanted to have their baby at 27 weeks because they needed her cord blood for their son right then. Kate Walsh's character had a hard time justifying put one child's health at risk for another, so she would not induce. The girl broke her own water with a knitting needle and ended up having the baby. It was very tiny, but alive. The show ended at that point too.
I really enjoyed it and am considering making it one of my new faves. I also DVRed Pusihing Daises (which I have never seen), but heard it was good.

I agree with you on the Greys season opener.. I was so bored.. and annoyed.
I should have watched private practice..your synopsis sounds awesome.. I didnt like it last season. I am so glad you dvr'd Pushing Daisies.. Is my favorite.. Though the season opener kind gives you an overview of the main characters since the strike made it come to an abrupt stop last year.. but over all.. still my favorite show.. but its really quirky..as am I..;)
I was disappointed with Grey's too. They could have made it an hour show instead of dragging it out. Shouldn't that icicle melt. Seriously how long was Yang on that table. Mc G I Joe is a hottie though.
I love Desperate Houswives too. I watched Private Practice last season but gave up after the strike. Maybe I will start again.
