Probably die young. Well, I know I would. Tomorrow I will go in for my fifth surgery in six years and seventh total. For those of you wondering, here is a surgery recap:
1979--Tonsillectomy
1995--Abdominal Laporatomy for ovarian cyst removal
2002--Lasik eye surgery
2003--Lingual Tonsillectomy
2005--Abdominal Laporatomy for endometriosis removal
2006--C-section
2009--Lingual Tonsillectomy & adenoidectomy
Do you see a trend? Tonsils and abdomen surgeries. I am not sure if you knew this or not, but you have three sets of tonsills. You have adenoids, throat tonsills (not sure of the scientific name) and lingual tonsils. Most of us have the first two removed when we are constantly sick. Once removed, usually we feel better. Those of us that are so lucky, get to have lingual tonsils removed and guess what? They can grow back and mine have. The reason they grow back is because it is nearly impossible for the Drs to remove all of the tonsil tissue because it is attached to your tongue, so the tissue can regenerate. The first time I had the lingual tonsillectomy, I had strep six times in one year. My tonsills were storing Strep, so they had to go. I knew in 2005 that something was wrong when I had my abdominal surgery. They said they had a heck of a time getting the air tube down my throat. When I mentioned my tonsillectomy, they said most likely I have scar tissue. Well, I may have had enlarged tonsills that actually grew back at that time. Since I have been pregnant with Kiera I have fought throat infection after throat infection and my voice has lowered considerably. I have known for over a year that I would need the surgery...again. But, we needed to get our insurance in a better position before having the surgery. So, now it has been scheduled for tomorrow. I am not at all looking forward to this surgery, but am anxious for the results. I sure hope my voice returns to normal and I feel better. I don't feel bad, I just don't every feel very good! My surgery is at 7:15, so prayers are needed and appreciated.
On a brighter note with medicine:
We have had our FET (frozen embryo transfer) consult appt and are anxiouly awaiting my period to get started. I will be doing a natural cycle FET meaning they will not control my cycle with birth control pills or Lupron. I am super excited about this because I HATE Lupron. It makes me hate my life. As soon as I start my period (should be any day) then I will start monitoring an LH surge by using ovulation sticks. When I see a surge, I call the office and they will schedule me for an ultrasound to check my uterine lining. If it is thick enough, the transfer of 2 embryos will be done within 4 or 5 days. If it is not thick enough, the cycle will be a bust, but will not effect any embryos because they will not be thawed yet. If this happens, I will do a medicated cycle next month. The only other thing that could go wrong this cylce is the surgery could affect my body and it may not produce an LH surge. In this case there would be no ultrasound and we will have to wait until next month. In my perfect world, I have the surgery, feel great, start my period while recovering, ovulate, transfer two embryos and have a baby at the end of October. I wouldn't mind adding another surgery... if a baby was the result. I will keep you all updated! Thank you again for your prayers!

I feel your pain on the frequent tonsillitis! Funny that you did a list of your surgeries today, because I just did a list of my diagnoses through my life too. We must be on the same wavelength.
Good luck!
Wow, Jen! This certainly is an exciting time in the Simpson household. I will be praying for both!
hugs to you girlfriend. I am so excited for your upcoming adventure!!
