Tainted Turkey Tradition

Before we get to the reason for the title, lets share some good news from the holiday!
On Tuesday, Kiera had a Thanksgiving feast at her school. Here she is with some friends you might recognize (Mia is next to her with the blue hat on and Alexandra is in the purple at the front of the picture):

Here is Kiera and her two teachers, Ms. Kerri and Ms. Jeanna:

We both love her school. Her teachers are so sweet and Kiera adores them. We had a great time. It was fun to see Kiera in her school surroundings!

Now, on to the actual turkey day....

We went to Corpus Christi (actually North Padre Island) to have Thanksgiving. My stepdad's parents live there in a beautiful beach house on the Gulf. It is chalk full of expensive antiques, so Kiera requires a watchful eye. Also, one step off the deck and she would fall into the Gulf. All of the houses have decks that mimic fishing piers (which Kevin LOVES), so there are no balconies.....not too safe!
Luckily, Kiera was the only child, so she was easy to keep track of. She had a terrific time until about 3:30. Here she is with Great Papa, whom she loved:

So as dinner was being prepared and the final touches were being attended to, Kiera started really whining, sweating profusely, and then turning a lovely shade of white that would make any sheet jealous. My mom, who is in tune with these sort of things, said, "Jenn, take her outside." So, like any good daughter, I followed my mom's wishes and thank God I did because Kiera threw up twice. Here she is minus the pretty dress, wrapped in a lovely blanket with Sofia with Grandma:

Now, I know all kids throw up, but, every Thanksgiving this child has celebrated (which only equals 2 at this point) has included barf! At least this year she didn't barf at the table like she did last year. Neither time included being sick from the dinner. I am sure they are purely coincidental, but I sure would like to get rid of this tradition.

The rest of our holiday was fabulous. I continued my yearly tradition of shopping Black Friday. I got some great deals...including Cricut cartridges for $29.99 (reg. priced $89.99). Kevin did a lot of fishing and we all did a lot of eating!

I hope your Thanksgiving was a little less messy than ours!

Poor kid!! Maybe there is something to do with the smell of all the food cooking? I only say that because I get violently ill if I smell shrimp & crab boil... whatever is in that spice mix makes me want to curl up in a ball right there and pass out.
