The Business of the Season

Well, I know I have been missing around the blog world lately. I apologize for that. Thank you to those who have kept up with it. It means the world to me. I know December is a busy time for everyone, but it is CRAZY busy for me. I am not complaining. I absolutely love it! It seems as I get older, I get to know myself a little more. What I mean, is I have recently found that I love to entertain. There is not a busier holiday to entertain at then Christmas, so that is why I am not blogging more. I have been going to party after party and planning party after party. Too much fun!

Let's back up a few weeks and catch some of you up. We went to El Paso for Thanksgiving. We had a pretty good time even though more than half of us ended up with the stomach flu. Poor little Kiera even through up at the table on Thanksgiving Day. I did the Black Friday shopping and got some good deals. I love that tradition with my sister. This year we woke up at 3:30 am. Crazy, I know.
Then, the following weekend, we had our monthly Dinner Party with my best friends. We did a White Elephant gift exchange and played Hit the Deck. We had a delicious dinner and fun was had by all.
This past weekend, my neighborhood had their first annual Progressive Party. This was an absolute blast. We started at Karen and AC's house for cocktails and then traveled to four other houses for appetizers. After that, we ended up at Chris and Jerry's for dessert, champagne and coffee. At each house we visited, ooohed and ahhhhed over the decorations and played a game. The games were so much fun. The limericks were hilarious. Each group was given the first line and had to come up with the rest of the lines following a rhyming and syllable pattern. I would like to share them with you:

Old Scrooge, he did nothing but frown
His troubles in booze he did drown
He passed out at 5,
Woke up with hives
Now he's the itchiest in town.

There was an old fellow named Clause
Who had some horrible flaws
He picked his nose
And sucked his toes
and like to braid bloody guaze!

Now my favorite is the following, written by Jean, Joanne, and Kevin:

St. Nick had a reindeer named Blitzen
He loved eating prunes and he shitzen
When He flew through the night
It created such a plight
for all the poor elves and their mittens!

I just love those. Another great game was draw a Christmas scene on top of your head. I told them what to draw and of course they could not see what they were doing. I have some great pictures of that! We just had a wonderful time and planned parties for the next two months. I feel so blessed to have such wonderful neighbors!
So this week, is the big week where we plan Kiera's first birthday! I cannot believe she will be a year on Sunday! What a year it has been! I can't wait to post about that! Thanks for reading!
