My mom and I banded together and set off on an adventure. Her brother (my Uncle) is a dentist and has his own practice. He is very kind and will work on our teeth for free. So we both needed a little work, so we decided to go together with Kiera in tow. Well after a relatively uneventful flight (minus the blazing cabin temps and slutty Sweden girls next to me) we landed in San Diego and boarded the shuttle bus that takes people to Budget. While on the shuttle, I had Kiera strapped in her umbrella stroller and she was next to my mom. Well for no reason at all the car in front of us stopped in the middle of the road causing our shuttle driver to slam on his breaks. I thought for sure he would not be able to stop in time and we were going to rear end the car. We weren't going that fast, but it was still scary. Well he did stop in time and as soon as he did, Kiera's stroller flipped forward and she landed on her face on the floor of the bus. I screamed a four letter forward that I never use because I could not believe what just happened. I should have been holding the stroller or her or something, not just sitting there. I picked her stroller up as she was screaming and unbuckled her. I hold her close and I start to cry. I am not a crier, but holy cow that scared me! Her face was all dirty from the floor and her nose was very red from hitting the scratch that was healing. She seemed fine, so we just caught our breath and carried on. I got a free upgrade for my inconvenience. La ti da... After awhile, a very distinct purple bruise lined the side of her face, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. It seems Budget was not such a great company to rent from because after the near accident we were there another hour and half trying to install two different car seats that were so disgusting the latch was forever caked in. Then to put fabulous icing on the cake, our first Garmin was missing a part and we had to go back and now our second Garmin has the wrong cord and has lost all battery power. We did not notice this until the battery died and would not charge. Of course we notice this on the way back to my Aunt's which we did not know our way. So, I am currently working on getting the entire rental for free. I will never use Budget again and I hope you don't either.
So we finally arrive to my Uncle's office and he tells he ready for us both and we sit down. An oral surgeon yanks a couple of my Mom's teeth out (no biggie right, LOL) and my uncle does an exam on me. 7 cavities and a crown. YIKES! And, he wants to do it all right then. So three hours later (I am NOT exaggerating) my jaw is killing me from holding my mouth open and I am numb in every quadrant of my mouth. I look like a stroke patient that suffered double strokes, but dang my teeth look great now. So I do what any girl with good teeth would do and head over to Burger King for a shake and fries! I got my teeth cleaned the next day and had a great deal of trouble keeping my mouth open for that. But, I am done thank GOD! I have never had that many cavities. I am thinking it is because I was pregnant and nursed and Kiera sucked all the nutrients out of my body. A couple of the cavities were just replacing old silver fillings. I am so thankful that my uncle did this for me because it would have cost nearly two thousand at home.
So now that we are done with the dentist for awhile, the fun will begin. We are going to go to downtown Fallbrook today and walk around and shop. Tomorrow we will go the Wild Animal Park and then head home. It is a lot cooler in California than I originally thought, but it beautiful!
