Beach Bums

What a great day we had yesterday. Our friends, Tara and Mike, rented a beach house down in Galveston for a week. They had their daughter's 5th birthday party on Saturday, but Kevin and I could not go because he was at work. So, they told us to come down on Sunday and spend some time with them. We had a blast. They rented a two story, three bedroom beach house right on the beach. It was absolutely beautiful and quite spacious. It was about 20 minutes outside of Galveston, so the beach was not very crowded. We left our house about ten and got to their place about noon. We headed out to the beach right away. At first, Kiera HATED the sand. We tried not to make a big deal about it and after spending some time in the ocean with Daddy, she was willing to give the sand a try. She ended up loving it and walking very, very far down the beach with Kevin while the sun BAKED his non-sunscreened back. But, I will save you those gory details. After a couple of hours at the beach with the Kosh's, we headed back up to the beach house for a delicious crab and oyster lunch. The crab has just been caught in the Gulf and was so good. Whenever you are invited to spend some time with caterers, always go hungry!!! After lunch, Tara's family taught me a new card game called 31. Kevin spent his time out on the deck reading a magazine while enjoying a great breeze. We had a wonderful time and feel truly blessed to have such good friends. Here are some pictures from our day:
