Personal Biography

For my WITS job, I have to submit a personal mini biography for their website. The only specifics are that it is told in third persona and be around five sentences. Here are some examples:

Varsha Bajaj writes fiction for children. Her first picture book How Many Kisses Do You Want Tonight? was published by Little Brown & Co. in April 2004. It has won several awards, and was featured by the Texas Library Association on the 2x2 recommended reading list in 2005. She has also published short stories for children in the South Asian literary magazine Kahani. She is currently working on picture books and a middle grade novel. Varsha is also a counselor, with a master's degree in counseling from Southern Illinois University. She worked as a therapist with both children and adults at the St. Louis University Medical Center from 1988 through 1996. Varsha lives in Houston with her husband, two children, and dog.

Bryan Bancroft is both a public school teacher and a writer of poetry and non-fiction. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in English literature in 2004 and has worked and written for the advancement of public education in inner cities since then. After working for a year teaching beginning literacy to three-year-olds through a Head Start program, he joined Teach for America and was placed in Houston to teach sixth grade at Jackson Middle School. He has taught English as a second language, creative writing, and social studies. He is currently working on collecting poetry and journal entries for an as-yet-untitled book.

Artist and elementary teacher Carina Christensen gained her first teaching experiences in her native country of Argentina. After completing her studies in art and elementary education, she taught in elementary schools in Buenos Aires. She then completed an international lifeguard instructor certification and taught swimming to over 500 students during the summer time. Before coming to the United States she instructed children and teenagers yoga, art, and language at a non-profit rehabilitation community center in her hometown of Rosario. Carina lives in Houston with her husband and one-year-old son.

I am stuggling a little with this because I don't quite feel like a writer and certainly don't have anything published. So what do you think about this:

A love of writing developed when Jennifer Simpson begin teaching elementary students in North Carolina. She enjoyed writing her own Language Arts lessons to help empower her students to be creative writers. A 1999 graduate of Texas Tech University with a degree in Psychology and a post-bac teaching certification more than equipped her for this great endeavor. After many years of trying to have children, Jennifer and her husband were blessed with a daughter who is almost 2. When she chose to stay home, it was then that Jennifer really began enjoying her own writing. She enjoys keeping a family blog and has recently started a fiction book based upon her infertility struggles.

Ok, be honest...what do you think? I don't want to copy anyone elses, but I like how some people didn't start with their name. I also want to mention my infertility struggles because that is helping me write my own book! Be brutal if you have to...I can take it!

I saw a couple of grammar things - but honestly thought it was great! It's hard to talk about yourself like that, but you did it really well and covered the bases. :-)
