Take a hike...IKE!!!

You know it is truly amazing to me that there is a huge hurricane in the Gulf, because you wouldn't really know it by driving around town. First of all, the weather is beautiful right now. It is sunny with a nice breeze (don't believe we will be saying that later) and actually quite a nice day. Of course, that will all change in just a matter of hours. There are still many businesses open and tons of cars out. Amazing.

We are as ready as we can be I guess. We have a battery powered weather radio, three days of food and botttled water, cars are full of gas, and all lawn furniture has been stored. We decided not to board the windows because we are at least 70 miles inland and there is not really chance of flying debris because there is no new construction around here and the trees are just barely taller than the people. So, now we wait....

Yesterday we went to Wal-mart to get some things and that was an adventure. I have to laugh at what people fill their carts with....cookies, chips, and crackers. Seriously, are you gonna live on that for three days? I won't even talk about how much alcohol people had in their carts. I just wonder what happens when they're too drunk to take care of their family in an emergency like they very possibly could be facing! I don't think people think through their actions.

This morning we took Oreo took a dog park since he won't want to be outdoors in the next couple of days. He had a blast! For those of you don't know what a dog park is....
It is just like a people park with benches, a pond, play equipment, water fountains, etc EXCEPT it is all for dogs. Everyone lets their dogs off their leashes and they just roam around chasing each other and sniffing in inappropriate places. There is a double gate, so there is no worry that dogs will leave. They also have a place to bathe your dog when you leave. Kevin and I were very stupid though and brought McDonald's in....DUMB MOVE! We had dogs come from all corners of the park to beg. Poor Kiera had to be held to eat her breakfast. We won't do that again! As I said before, you would not know that a hurricane was approaching...everyone seemed happy and unconcerned this morning.

So as I close this post, I ask for your prayers. Please pray for our safety. We are worried about windows blowing out, spontaneous tornadoes spinning around us, and losing power for days on end. We pulled our RV in our driveway so we could leave after the storm if we have no power.
Thanks in advance for the prayers.

Stay safe, stay dry, and stay put!
Jenn

I can so relate - I saw the same thing at the store yesterday - and many MANY bottles of wine! We didn't board up either - so we're in that one together. Stay safe - and dry!
