Crisp Mornings and Busy Afternoons

Fall has rolled into Houston and it could not be more welcome. There is nothing like crawling out of bed to pull on your favorite flannel pajama bottoms only to stumble downstairs and warm your hands with a perfectly flavored cup of coffee.
We have welcomed the weather with open arms and it will just add to the already fabulous weekend we have planned. Last night was spent apart with me at the MET scrapbooking and Kevin at home resting after his trip and 4:30am wake up call. Today will be sent celebrating with the Dauphine twins first birthday and then ending the night at our Block Party appropriately named Oxford Groverfest in honor of Germany's Oktoberfest. I will definately tell you more about that through a story of pictures in another post. Tomorrow I believe we are heading out in the RV to do a little camping. We have not been camping in some time, so I am very excited. Now that Kiera is getting older, it should be a lot of fun!
As you have been reading, we have been super busy working in the house, but it hasn't been all work, we have had some fun. Last Saturday, we (Cypress Calling) went the The Source in the Northeast Houston to shower ten girls who are experiencing a crisis pregnancy. It is an absolutely amazing God-filled event. Here are some pictures. I am so excited about the future of this ministry. It has been a lot of work and tons of worry, but I know God is calling me to do amazing things through this ministry. We are gearing up for 4 regular showers next year and 2 big showers where we give each girl a crib! It will be a challenge to raise the funds, but I know we can do it. We also have a retreat planned in February to plan the future of CCM.
My friend, Staci, is in town from Canada and I have spent a lot of time with her as well. Wednesday we had playgroup at my house. It was just like old times and made me realize how much I miss Staci and her little bambinos. After playgroup we headed to our old standby, McDonald's for lunch. After filling everyone's bellies with devilishly delicious crap, we went to the pumpkin patch for some photos. This picture pretty much sums up that experience:
You see, the place was filled with ants. I guess the rain brought all those clever little creatures up from their homes. They found Kiera very quickly and she refused to wear shoes. A little while late, I put Kiera on this large haystack only to find my foot covered by ants and starting to burn with fire. I ripped off my Croc in record time, paying no attention to my daughter six feet above ground crying on the haystack. I then told Tasha to watch her and then she stepped in ants. So here are Tasha and I desperately trying to rid ourselves of ants while Kiera is sitting on hay trying to fend for herself. After that, I decide it was time to go. We did get a few good pics (well everyone else's kids look good)

Checking for ants
On Thursday, Tasha, Staci, Deanna, and I went to On The Border for a girls dinner. We had a great time muncing and chatting. Thanks Staci for a fabulous dinner!
Friday rolled around and it was a MOPS day (Mothers of Preschoolers). We meet twice a month and alternate between having a craft or a speaker. Yesterday was a speaker on Organization. I feel like I am pretty organized, but I did learn a few things. And then the evening was ended with some good ole scrapbooking amongst friends.
So there you have it, a fun filled week and weekend to follow! Happy Saturday!
