Christmas music has been playing in the stores for weeks now and many of the stores have had their decorations up for over a month. But, they are here for US. Every year the middle of November sneaks up and we celebrate a little known holiday called:
MY BIRTHDAY
Now, before you start judging and forming opinions..... let me just share a little Starbuck's opinion with you that I wrote myself :)
The way I see it #456
I don't understand why people don't enjoy celebrating their own birthdays. It is the only day of the year that is truly YOURS! The celebration can be as BIG or as little as you want. It is not about the gifts or the cake (well sometimes it is!), but about the fact that GOD brought you into this world on that very day and you should celebrate. Guess what? Even if you ignore your birthday you will still get older. Ha Ha...nothing you can do about it!!!! Also, when you act like your birthday is no big deal, others don't know how to act. Do I get her a gift or not? Do I tell others it is her birthday or not? So, get over yourself and start clelebrating!

Don't worry, Kevin is one of those non-celebraters as well. Drives me nuts. I never know what to do. I feel like if I ignore the day then that is really crappy and maybe he is crying on the inside. Hee Hee...Kevin crying on the inside....I hardly doubt that.
Anyway, back to the almost National Holiday...my birthday! I love it because I have to wait ALL year to get to the funnest part: my birthday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I feel like my birthday kicks it all off. But, the last two years I got an added bonus: the Holiday Dinnner at the Met. It was held on Friday, November 14th. It is a terrific kickoff to the Holidays. I should be getting some pictures emailed to me shortly, so I will save that for another post! It is a great night, you just have to see pictures.
Well the next day was my birthday. I awoke only to see K and K pulling out of the driveway, sort of stealth-like. They spotted me in the window and big K came in and said they were going to Wal-mart, so of course I made him a quick list of things I needed. When they returned, Kevin had a dozen tiger striped red roses and little K had a card that she and Daddy had recorded. It goes something like this:
Kevin: "Happy Birthday Mommy!"
Kiera: "Appy Birth Ommy!"
Then it proceeds to play You're Unbelievable.
Talk about pulling the heart strings. I love it!!!! We spent the rest of the day running a few errands and getting ready for my little impromptu birthday party. I decided to throw myself a party with all of my favorites: Fajitas, Friends, and Fun. A few of my closest friends brought a pot luck dinner and dessert and we played Pictionary. It was a lot of fun. My friend, Katja, made a delicious carrot cake. I had a really good day and now we can begin to celebrate the rest of the holidays..... :) I will leave you with a pic from my birthday:

I love my birthday too - so I get your excitement!! What's better than a day to celebrate all your favorite things?! It doesn't have to be expensive... but even without gifts - my favorite part of my birthday is getting to talk to all the important people in my life... within 24 hours!
